1989 Ford Thunderbird
The 1989 Ford Thunderbird is a car designed for traveling long distances with
supreme comfort. It is less plump and those who enjoyed on the ?83-?88 models
will surely find tastes sharpened even more in the slimmed down ?89 version. For
this year, Thunderbird comes in three versions: the standard, LX and high performance
Super Coupe. All these models come in rear-wheel drive.
Once again, Ford delivers for this year a good looking automobile with performance
that harmonized its appearance. ?89 Thunderbird is powered by a fuel- injected
3.8-liter V-6 that cranks out 140-horsepower. Once you hit its, pedal, you notice
a very good response with very little noise. The T-Bird's 3.8 engine is coupled
with 4-speed automatic with overdrive.

For maximum performance, keep away from ?D? with the big ?O? encircling it on
the gear shift level. This will save the overdrive from gliding on the open road.
For this model year, Thunderbird experienced dimension modifications as well as
styling patch up. Its wheelbase has been increased by 9 inches, making it 113
inches and its overall length is falls down to 198.7 inches.
Other major modifications are a 7.1-inche increase in rear seat hip room and
a 3.9-inch inch augmentation in rear seat shoulder room plus a 3.3-inch increase
in its front tread width and 1.7 additional inches in the rear tread width. With
the vehicle's longer wheelbase and wider thread width, the car become longer and
has wider stance that provides better handling and quality ride.
LX models puts additional instrumentation, AM/FM stereo with cassette, speed
control, tilt wheel, six-way power driver's seat and leather-wrapped steering
wheel while coupe adds supercharged engine, dual exhausts, 5-speed manual, ABS,
handling suspension with automatic ride control, traction lock rear axle, cast
aluminum wheels, performance tires and more.
